Corporate entertainment can be a tricky thing to get right. You want a healthy dose of fun so that people can relax and enjoy each other’s company, but you’re also looking for a way to bring people together so you can grow as a team.
To point you in the right direction we’ve come up with a list of different options for you to take a look at, Now all you have to do is pick the ones you like the sound of most and get busy with the planning!
1. Get People Active
The great thing about a corporate day is that it’s a chance to get everyone together out of the office and really get to know one another. Being active is a great way to do just that, and a little bit of friendly competition is often the perfect icebreaker if you want your team to really start gelling. The secret is to make sure there’s plenty of stiff competition, and not to make the event too physical otherwise it’s not going to be as inclusive as it should be.
A team building sports day is a great way to strike the right balance because you’ll be able to take the athletes amongst you out of their comfort zone and play games you all remember from your youth. The sack race, the egg and spoon race, and any number of other school era classics are great ways for your team to get to know one another. Mix up the teams so that you don’t have department vs department and you’re sure to have a great sports day.
2. Invite the Whole Family
Bringing the kids along is a great way to get everyone together. Put on some hot food and a BBQ in the summer and you’re sure to increase the turnout tenfold. The great thing about inviting the whole family is that there are all sorts of ways to keep the kids entertained on a sunny afternoon. A soft play setup is ideal for the little ones, and an inflatable obstacle course is a great way to get the parents playing too.
It’s all about finding a big open space where you can all get outdoors, enjoy the sunshine, and spend the day doing a whole bunch of fun activities. For those of you with a sweet tooth, you could even hire a Pick and Mix stand if you want to create the ultimate corporate family fun day.
3. Get People Playing
Every corporate day should bring people together so that they bond, and a big part of that is providing experiences that will be talked about long after they’ve finished. If you want to really get people talking then providing them with a chance to play with a few giant toys they’ve never seen before is the perfect way to go about it.
A huge game of football darts is sure to get the crowds building with excitement as the whole office cheers the two competitors in the final. Or how about a race track where you can chase each other in giant hamster balls?
There really is no right or wrong choice here folks. It’s all about providing plenty of fun and laughs so that your team will bond without them even having to think about it.
4. Onsite or Offsite?
One of the big decisions to make when it comes to putting on a great corporate event is where to host it. If you have plenty of space at work and some outdoor areas then some Giant Games are a great way to transform the workplace for the day. Get all of the age-old classics in a jumbo size and you’ll be able to get everyone mixing and bonding in no time at all. The great thing about doing it this way is that you can easily move things indoors in a couple of minutes if the weather takes a turn.
On the other hand, you could give everyone a break from their normal commute and meet somewhere else for the day. This is a great option if you want to freshen things up or you’re short on space at work. Hotel grounds are a great option as you’ll have catering and refreshments onsite if you need them. Alternatively, you could hire a playing field for the day and get everyone to bring a packed lunch if you’re going for a relaxed vibe.
5. Don’t Make Things Too Corporate
At the end of the day, the secret to putting on a great day is ensuring that people have fun. By all means, work in some motivational talks or drop in a reminder of the company motto, but don’t make these things the main attractions of the day. Get people up and about so that they mix with people they wouldn’t necessarily see all that much of during the working day. And make sure you make the most of the time of year too. If you’re planning an event for December then a Christmas theme is ideal, and if it’s the summer why not get out there and enjoy the sunshine together?
