We were approached by a marketing agency to bring their vision to life, with the use of our snow effects and Christmas themed props. The goal was to create a series of doorstep scenes that not only showcased Funky Pigeon's diverse product range but also have character and create a sense of festivity.
In the lead up to the shoot, we planned what types of snow effect we would use to create the best visual outcome possible, taking into consideration the different surfaces and effect that the client wanted for each shot.
Our pre-production planning began when the brief was sent prior to the shoot, which detailed each character’s personality; each door had to be themed to represent the character. For example, “Uncle Bob” is described as having a sweet tooth, so we themed his door using relevant props, such as the candy and gingerbread family props.
On set, we got straight to work on executing our plan. The first thing we did was place the props, as these needed to be put down first so that they could be snowed with the rest of the set. Once these were placed, we began transforming the sets into festive scenes!
Snow effects we provided across the shoot included settled snow, falling snow, dressed snow and snow FX. We worked closely with the camera team on the day to make sure that what we were doing translated well on camera, making sure that it was perfect.
Once the set was themed, it was time for the cameras to start rolling.
Did you know that each member of staff we send out with a snow machine has been trained and classed as a “Snow Expert”?
The Snow Expert was responsible for managing snowfall to suit the client’s needs, as well as maintaining the snow machine throughout the day.
The final advert successfully captured the festive spirit, with realistic snow effects that enhanced the storytelling. The attention to detail in the props and snow effects played a crucial role in creating a memorable visual experience for Funky Pigeon’s audience.
