We transformed an event area of the shopping centre into a lively pirate cove, it was an immersive set design filled with pirate decor, with live actors as pirates and various activities designed to entertain families and children.
The Pirate-themed Set Up
We designed the set up to fit the event space for our shopping centre client, transforming the area into a full immersive pirate haven. The centre piece was a pirate ship prop, it was a large set up to allow visitors to ‘board’ the ship, steer the helm, overlook the views on deck! It was perfect for photos and it became an incredible focal point. To make the event immersive, the ground was covered with blue carpet to mimic the open sea, encouraging children to imagine themselves sailing the high seas. Every small detail was considered, from treasure chests, crates, cannons, etc., all of which added to the atmosphere. We also had a PA system installed for soundscape playing through the event duration which elevated the experience and brought excitement with an additional sensory element. The overall theming was bold, playful and visually striking to engage families walking by.
All Hands on Deck: Interactive Pirate Fun
Our bespoke pirate themed event was packed with hands-on activities that encouraged participation, to keep our young adventurers entertained. In the set up, we had 4 main games: pirate ring toss, what’s your pirate name, treasure hunt and walk the plank. Children were excited to play these games, the experience was further enhanced by pirates actors who did an excellent job hosting these games. Upon participation, children can earn a pirate eye patch so they become ‘one of them’! This was a simple touch but made the entire experience that little bit more magical for children, adding an extra layer of engagement to the shopping centre event.
Live Pirate Entertainment: Meet the Crew
We completed our pirate-themed event with live performers acting as pirates. Our professional performers dressed as pirates and roamed the event area, engaging with parents and children, posing for photos, and encouraging game play in the area. This theatrical add certainly helped with making this shopping centre event even more immersive and unforgettable for children.
Beyond the entertainment, this pirate themed event also served a larger purpose: driving footfall, boosting dwell time, and enhancing the visitor experience at the shopping centre. With our immersive installation, exciting activities and live performers, the event created a buzz and visitors were very happy with the shopping centre’s creative and cost-free day out, kids left with eye patches, pirate names and unforgettable memories.
