Our newest trail brings the beloved children’s book We’re Going on a Bear Hunt to life in an engaging, interactive experience for families. For this trail, we’ve designed a playful and immersive trail inspired by the popular story, featuring themed installations, interactive elements, and custom trail leaflets.
Each location along the trail is based on a different scene from the book, complete with an interactive installation where children can play and engage with the story. To enhance the experience, every stop includes a crayon impression station, allowing participants to rub a texture into their leaflet that reflects the scene, such as fish scales for the river and snowflakes for the snowstorm. This hands-on approach helps bring each trail spot to life in a memorable and interactive way for children. Additionally, each trail point features one of our signature storybook scroll props with an illustration from the book to tie the entire experience together with consistent visual themes.
To ensure the trail fully aligned with the book's look and feel, we collaborated closely with the licensing team, making amendments where necessary to gain approval for every design element, from the character artwork to the colour palettes and interactive features. This ensured that the final experience remained faithful to the original brand and met all licensing requirements, whilst still allowing space for creative interpretation within the trail design.
The trail was created as a free activity for families to enjoy in the centre over the Easter holidays, as well as World Book Day. Alongside the trail, we also hosted two storytelling sessions in a dedicated storytelling zone next to the beginning of the trail, where families could sit and enjoy a live theatrical reading of the book.
